We would welcome the opportunity to book a one-on-one consultation to discuss any anxiety or apprehensions you may have, so we can work together to save your tooth. Our team at Integral Dental, Ellice Dental, and Pearl Dental can provide you with Winnipeg's comprehensive root canal treatment.

We keep abreast of the latest developments in the field so that we can provide you with the best and the most advanced treatment available.
Your teeth are made of many layers. At the centre of each tooth is a collection of nerve, blood vessels and connective tissue called the pulp. Sometimes, due to deep decay or trauma, the pulp can become infected. This can lead to the development of the following:
If you experience any of these, please contact us immediately so that we can examine the tooth and provide any necessary treatment as soon as possible. Do not delay the treatment of a root canal. If an infected tooth is left untreated, it can affect the adjacent teeth and jaw. Tooth extraction may be required if the tooth is not treated in a timely manner.
Before the root canal treatment is initiated, your dentist will thoroughly examine your mouth, teeth, jaw, oral hygiene condition and general health. If, during this time, it is found that your tooth will not be able to undergo an endodontic treatment or that further complications are likely to develop in your case, your dentist will let you know and will gladly discuss alternative treatment options.
Providing treatment for a root canal in a timely manner is very important. If this is not done, the tooth's condition can worsen and affect the nearby teeth and the jaw, leading to significant problems and more complications. Thus, we urge you to start your treatment with us at your earliest convenience. At Integral Dental, Ellice Dental, and Pearl Dental practices in Winnipeg, root canal procedures are completed in three steps:
Clean the Root Canal: Our dentist will use local anesthesia to ensure the entire procedure is comfortable. A small opening on the surface of the tooth is made to remove the diseased pulp tissue. We use specifically shaped files to clean all root canals and disinfect the area thoroughly.
Fill the Root Canal: After cleaning the root canal, we will fill your tooth with a rubber-like material using adhesive cement to seal the canal.
Adding a Crown or Filling: Your tooth will need a permanent restoration (filling or crown) to replace the lost tooth structure and provide a seal for the top of the tooth.
In some cases, it is possible to complete the entire procedure in one appointment. However, many need multiple appointments to complete the root canal procedure successfully.
After root canal therapy is complete, many patients experience a significant amount of relief from the pain and discomfort. For most of our patients, the pain is so much less that they can drive themselves home after the treatment. Kindly note that you might be asked to make some temporary or permanent changes after the root canal therapy. These could include increased brushing and flossing, modifying diet or careful biting.
